I think it should be recognized that in Rap, the producer is an integral part of the process, a part of the "band" if you allow. Many times the producers achieve as great a level of status as the rappers. Pharell, for example, these days does a bit of rapping, but is more sought after to put his sound out there for other artists as a producer as his most important contiibution to many of his collabnorations. I see nothing wrong with that at all.A guy who plays the guitar and sings needs others to pitch in, and even if he gets the song writing credits sure as hell doesn't write all the musical parts, drums, bass, etc... Making music is a collaborative process, there's just new tools to do it with these days, and the producers who master studio techniques to get the sounds required are simply a part of the band, putting the whole thing together.
