I am married and I spend a very small percentage of my income on hardware. The last couple of years it's probably averaged about $500/year, with my tube integrated purchase being largely funded by sale of my amp/preamp separates.My high-end CD player was bought for me outright by my wife, after years of my compplaining that my CD playback was way less excellent than the rest of my gear.
Although my wife is largely indifferent to my hobby, as our income has risen she's been more flexible about audio-related purchases. If our income rose a bit more I'm sure she'd be cool about additional purchases. We do have college to think about for two kids and such, but I guess I'd put her at an 8 or 9, all things considered.
