Re: REVIEW: Blue Circle Audio BC 2.1 Amplifier (SS)

By "in absolute terms," I mean that (I've been told by someone who heard it from Gilbert, might have been Warnke but don't hold me to it) allowing for its lower power (25 watts, which makes it unsuitable for driving a good many speakers), he prefers its sound. I take this to mean that to build amplifiers that could drive his ML's (and ProAc 2.5's and Aerial 10-T's, etc.) he had to compromise his high standards a little. Judging from what I've heard from the 2.1's, it couldn't have been much of a compromise. I didn't audition M60's because I loved the BC's and also because with them I only have to live with (a total of) two tubes rather than howevermany. And I like the idea of a solid state output. I suspect the bottom end of the 2's and 2.1's is firmer than that of the M60's but obviously don't know this for a fact. One final note: When Gilbert and Merlin's Bobby Pavlovic were showing together, they drove the VSM's with a pair of the BC 6's rather than one 2 or 2.1. (The 6's are the 25 watters.) And a final, final note: Warnke does prefer the M60's to the BC 6 but says he hasn't tried the 2's or 2.1's. Why? Because he loves the M60's. There's no arguing with love, in either case. Okay?
