Not about Doppler.

Hi Dave,

I tried to make it clear that I have no problem with people who prefer a particular coloration or distortion in their music, but obviously I failed. Sorry. I understand your perspective on audio, and have no disagreement with your arguemnts. I just approach things a bit differently. I've said it all elsewhere on this forum, but here's a brief glimpse of my way of choosing my colors. Every recording has it's own coloration, even the best ones. And if you don't like the color you can repaint with an eq. If the basic system is as uncolored as possible you have more control and more choices. If a particular color pleases you consistently then there is no reason for it not to be a part of the system itself, but most people do tire of even the most euphoric colorations eventually, at least as far as the people I've known. Obviously I can't speak for everyone. Anyway, I like a stereo that makes a good recording of a Stradivarious sound like a Stradivarious.

My concern over "Doppler distortion" goes more to the issue of understanding than it does taste, as I think you will see if you read my other posts in this thread.

BTW, I've been tweaking audio gear for longer than I care to admit. Decades. So that part of the sermon went out to the choir. :-)

Be excellent,

Charles
