Upsamplers, DACs, jitter, shakes and analogue withdrawals, this is it.

Anagram chipset in Levinson, Audio Aero, Audiomeca....

The Levinson 390s uses the anagram 32 bit upsampling dac, as does the Audio Aero Capitole CD player and AA prima dac, and Audiomeca in the Mephisto IIX and Enkianthus X dac. I have the Audiomeca hooked up to my Richard Kern modded Sony SCD777es (used as a transport). (I've read a on tnt audio's review the enkianthus + good transport slightly betters the Mephisto IIX stand alone player)

I can attest that the anagram chipset used by all of these players is VERY, VERY nice, and it provides a definite analog sound. At least with my system and Merlin VSM-MMs there isn't much that it won't do.

If you already have a system that leans toward overly warm or just prefer a brighter/more immediate presentation, I'd go w/ the levinson or even check out audio aero or audiomeca's players and compare prices. I have no doubt that you will be happy with ANY of the players mentioned, as they are all great. The final choice will have to be made by considering your system as well as your personal likes/dislikes.
