Thanks Vinnie, yes have been learning a lot these last couple of weeks, and also, have had a real blast.Yes the opamp replacement is something I truly dread, that's why I've left it for the very end. Certainly I'll practice somewhere else before tackling the Tosh.
I already got the pieces to build a hot air gun, read about it somewhere here on audioasylum: a fish tank air pump, steel wool, and this desoldering gun with two rods and a sucking red plastic bulge. With these I think it will be easy to remove the opamp. I think the real difficult part will be to solder the new one. Planning to use under the opamp a bit of that same stuff I used to dampen the clock, so as to keep it there while trying to solder the first leg.
Where can I find thin and small enough soldering tips by the way? Local Radio Shack doesn't seem to have any. Someone at Head-fi recommended a 1/32" tip, but not sure where to get one of those. Do you have a catalog number, or link to where something like that is being sold?
Thanks very much for all the help, for the mod instructions in the first place!
Cheers,
Raul
