I just bought the R7 because a friend recommended it. I also own the R9, and my friend said the R7's sound improved significantly on 12-volt battery power, so I bought a battery. My R9 now sounds only slightly better than my new R7. Both the R9 and the R7 have gobs of digital inputs. If you need a DAC/Streamer/DAP/Preamp, you really should check out FiiO. I think they produce some of the most versatile and best sounding digital components available today.
