The DAC is probably the strongest part of any audio chain. Amps, speakers, cables all give an audio "signature" but DACs not so much. Their specs generally show such low distortion and noise that you just can't go wrong with any competently manufactured DAC.
I use a Topping E30 that costs $130 and found that the silver cables I built to connect it had more impact than using a more expensive DAC.
