I mentioned before that Bryston uses the hobbyist Raspberry Pi board in two of their products. One is a basic streamer and the other is a streamer / DAC.I just opened the lastest December 2023 TAS and learned that Boulder now uses the Raspberry Pi 4B in their $9250 USD streamer / DAC / preamp. The Raspberry Pi is also used in the Boulder 866 integrated, $14,950 with streaming DAC option.
Will Raspberry Pi 4 boards remain available as production of Raspberry Pi 5 ramps up? It should be an easy mid product cycle swap if Boulder and others need to switch to the newer board. Any other 'high-end' streamer products using the hobbyist Raspberry Pi board within?
I find it interesting that some audiophiles remain skeptical of the dirt cheap Raspberry Pi board as a streamer even though it is used in some well established 'high-end' brands.
Excerpt from Dec 2023 TAS:
"Raspberry Pi (/paɪ/) is a series of small single-board computers (SBCs) developed in the United Kingdom by Raspberry Pi Ltd in association with Broadcom. The Raspberry Pi project originally leaned toward the promotion of teaching basic computer science in schools."
