I have heard the M1 Special Edition upgraded to the MDX Motherboard and new streaming board, and I assume that the M1 Series II and the M21 will sound even better, perhaps not so much in an A-B comparison, as over the course of time.

Having more room and more build budget for larger power-supply capacitors is worth the money--if you can afford it, and it you can hear it in your home and your system.
