I use Audirvana with both Tidal and Qobuz but never did rip my CDs. I thought though that the reason Tidal and Qobuz are so universal among the various players is because they publish an API for integration, whereas Apple and Amazon do not. And all you have to do is look at the size of the companies to see why. Apple and Amazon don't need support from wherever they can get it, they can dictate the terms, and they do. In the meantime us audiophiles stick with Qobuz and Tidal and Audirvana and Roon.
You don't need a dedicated Mac Mini to set up Audirvana. But if you don't have a Mac somewhere plugged into your system you need some kind of streamer. For a while I used a long USB cable that I plugged in when I wanted to stream but that got old really quick. I found out about Raspberry Pi and using that as a DLNA streamer along with Audirvana being the only combo that would allow Tidal MQA streaming over wifi and it worked. I haven't looked back. It works with Qobuz and any locally stored hi-res too, and I mainly use that now.
