You will need the Lightning to USB 3 "Camera Connection Kit" ($39). It will allow you to attach the iPhone to a USB DAC - like the AudioQuest Dragon Fly Black ($99 at Audio Advisor dot Com) AND charge the iPhone at the same time. Unless you don't mind your iPhone battery depleting in very short order while playing music.See the link below, then scroll down to the first customer posted photo and click on the photo.

To what file types are you ripping your CDs? If you're using MP3 or AAC lossy compression don't expect much sound stage.
