Recommendations for Download services

I am a 72 year-old audiophile and music lover. My most advanced source component is a CD player! My wife and I recently bought a second home, and I bought a laptop with a LOT of storage capacity, thinking I would like to download music, keep it on my laptop, and play music directly from my laptop so as not to have to move CDs, LPs and other physical media back and forth between homes.

I have Apple components (iPhone, MacBook Air)if that makes a difference. I have downloaded a few files from Apple's Music Store, but would like to access higher-resolution source material. I listen mostly to opera and classical music but also enjoy some rock, acoustic folk and blues music.

What might be the best Download service for me to try and why?
