The 5005 does have a headphone amp (but no USB). I have a 5004, and the headphone amp is actually pretty decent (but the volume isn't controllable by the remote). I'm certain the one in the 5005 is as least as good as the one inb my player, which powers Sennheiser HD600's with no difficulty.
