Upsamplers, DACs, jitter, shakes and analogue withdrawals, this is it.

RE: new ES9028 DAC from T-Music, anyone?

After many hours of burn-in, the soundstage presentation of the T-Music ES9018 Sabre DAC is more open, and the overall sound is a tad warmer than my initial impressions, but it's still a decidedly neutral sounding DAC that's sensitive to cabling, power cords, and vibration control methods. While it's not as refined and rich sounding as the more expensive Gustard DAC-X12 DAC, the presentation is detailed and dynamic without sounding too sterile or brittle. That said, I suspect the weakest aspect is the use of op-amps vs. a discrete analog output. I think it's a solid choice for the price, and a good option for a modest budget level or second system application. Certainly better than a previous lower-budget TeraDak V3.1D NOS DAC. I'll be curious to know if the new ES9028 PRO DAC chip actually sounds better in a fundamental way, or if it simply has more digital filter options and other end user adjustable settings to choose from.
