RE: Playing CD-Rs with Skipped IDs

Most modern CD players will play CD-Rs OK. Depends on what you want to spend. As it is for a second system I don't expect you want to push the boat out. Just select what seems to be a player that suits you then double check its specifications which should provide a list of media that it will deal with.

As for the skipped IDs I suspect that this may be a feature unique to your Pioneer machine. From what you write I am assuming that the unwanted tracks are burned but have no ID information. That seems an odd way to do things rather than just omitting burning the unwanted track in the first place. I have not seen any player with any form of reference to such a facility. However if there is no ID then the track won't be recognised by any player. That may lead to the disc, although playable according to basic spec, still be unplayable as it is not standard. Would the new player simply play on past the unidentified track or ( more likley) would it stop right at the beginning as there is an incomplete ToC? You can but try but don't commit your money first.
