Does anyone remember the Bel Canto Opti-Link "fiber optic transmitter"? It was a device that converted S/PDIF via an RCA input to optical via an ST Glass output. (Further, it plugged directly into an RCA output jack as opposed to requiring another cable.) I'm interested as I want to connect two digital outs (one from CD transport, one from iPhone dock) to my DAC -- and I need another connection option.CD transport has S/PDIF (RCA) and Toslink outs; dock has S/PDIF (RCA), AES/EBU, and Toslink outs. DAC has S/PDIF (RCA), AES/EBU, Toslink, and ST Glass inputs. At the moment, I'm using the S/PDIF output from my transport and using RCA/RCA cable. Of course I could leave that alone and use the AES/EBU connection to connect my iPhone dock. But, I'm curious about the potential of galvanic isolation with ST Glass (to connect either my transport *or* my dock -- not sure which) ...
... plus, it's kind of cool and different.
Any thoughts?
Thanks!
