I will go so far to say that the Lifatec Silflex glass Toslink cable can be used as a reference point to compare its performance vs. digital coaxial cables, in order to find out if specific digital coaxial cables perform better than the Lifatec glass Toslink cable when placed within their own particular digital front end.
Identifying a mismatch between the digital coaxial I/Os of particular digital components is a key factor in finding compatible synergy, so a Lifatec Silflex glass Toslink cable might clearly point out this particular issue. Now this is not to say the Lifatec cable as a rule can make an S/PDIF Toslink interface sound better than a 75 ohm S/PDIF digital coaxial interface, it simply means if a listener chooses to use a mediocre or electrically incompatible digital coaxial cable, the Lifatec cable might at least reveal the sonic weakness of a particular coaxial cable interface.
So it can be a good audiophile tool to have, even if the fate of the Lifatec cable is to be placed back into its box after a higher-performance 75 ohm S/PDIF digital coaxial cable is found to sound better than what the Lifatec digital optical cable can provide, within their own audio system.
