I actually thought it was more funny than offensive, but a little more subjective than you thought. :) If it was truly offensive I would have left it to the moderator

When you write: "... why is that in the audiophile world , where money is no object, the highest level of recorded playback is still the lp?"

It is a subjective statement about the sound quality of an LP vs. digital, which not all, certainly not me, agree with. :)
