He is the 2nd or 3rd most responsible person for keeping the Squeezebox/LMS going after Logitiech killed it. A simple search of John's many posts reveals that he has been working on a "new Squeezebox" hardware endpoint for years.
The microRendu was designed by JohnS & built for LMS. All the first aspects of the testing phase were using the hardware with LMS. Adding in MPD/DLNA functionality was almost an afterthought. And, I believe that the SBT was approved as a ROON endpoint even before the microRendu. Since the microRendu IS A BETTER SBT, its Roon approval came easily. Other than Mr. Herger and a few others, one can almost safely say, that John could be the reason why you're still using LMS/SBT type endpoints today.

Was that a question? Your statement is untrue. Why, yes, the Bryston unit can stream everything that the Squeezebox can, because you can easily set it to show up as just another Squeeze-endpoint. It runs LMS just fine.
