Upsamplers, DACs, jitter, shakes and analogue withdrawals, this is it.

Have owned a couple.

I'm a Lampi fan. I started with a Big 7, and I liked it so much that I went to the Golden Gate. I still have both, and have recently re-compared them. The Golden Gate is marvelously realistic in its sound quality, IME. The Big 7 is quite good, enough to motivate me to try more of the Lampi line (and glad that I did). They both offer a very coherent presentation, with well realized timbre, dynamic shading, and timing. They soundstage wonderfully in all dimensions. The GG vs. the Big 7 just does this all "moreso".

I do not have experience with their models further down the line, but I read plenty of reviews and consumer opinions, and they seem to be wholly consistent with the traits I hear. My previous DAC's were the Berkeley DAC 2, and Audio Note Kits 4.1 LE, and an EAR Acute. The Lampi's were compellingly better (of course, they should be for their prices).

I am happy with the GG DAC, and I think I won't be hunting for another DAC (I know, I know....).
