Does the DAC have a proper 75ohm BNC input for the SPDIF?
If it only has a crappy RCA SPDIF input then go AES/EBU and never look back.

But make sure you get a proper 110ohm balanced cable for the AES/EBU input. A BlueJeans one will do fine.
