My Micromega digital was some of the gear that I have sometimes regretted selling. The Duo Pro was excellent. Mine became slightly better by swapping out the stock opamps with some higher performace jobs. (Bass got a little deeper and more solid, dynamics went from excellent to outstanding and transparency increased a shade.)
It was so impeccably designed that there was really no room for further significant design improvements.
I switched to Theta gear, which was a slight downgrade.
Newer digital doesn't necessarily mean better. Chips become discontinued and manufacturers change the production machinery. Many people feel that some of the DAC chips made in the early-mid 90s were the best sounding that have been made. One of my DACs uses NOS NOS DACs (new old stock of non over-sampling dacs). I find myself using my NOS DAC more than my more modern DAC.
