I was pleasantly surprised to read about the new Mydac in the Absolute Sound's 2013 Buyers Guide and look forward to their forthcoming review.
I haven't had a chance to hear the Mydac yet but will eventually seek out a dealer. I am a big Micromega fan and use a Duo BS2 in one system and a Microdac in another. I have tried several other dacs over the years but have not found one that I like better. Some of these dacs had a little more inner detail or bass slam, but none of them had the overall musical presentation of the Micromegas. The Micromega's have the ability to make vocals and acoustic instruments sound more natural than any dac I have heard that sold for less than $5K years ago. My knowledge of dacs is admittedly dated and I have not tried any of the current crop of dacs that can upsample and have usb inputs. However, if Micromega was able to turn out musically satisfying dacs in the early 90's, I am anxious to hear what they can do today.
