That the overall life of the CD Player will be reduced commensurate with the length of the burn-in is a very good point. I'd be interested in hearing 'guesstimates' on just how many hours a well-built $1,000 CD player might last.
But back to my original question...
Let me rephrase some ideas...
Let's say you decided you wanted to do a super-thorough burn-in for a total of 365 hours, and you had the patience to do it for 1 hour per day over one year. Indeed, the player would have plenty of down time between the 1-hour sessions. There'd be less continuous motion and motor heat.
Conversely, let's say you're in a hurry to burn your player in over a few weeks time. If you operate it for a long series of 8-hour "shifts" with several hours of down time in between....WILL THE LONGER BURN-IN SESSIONS OVER A SHORTER TIME FRAME - but still comprising 365 hours - CREATE MORE WEAR AND TEAR ON THE TRANSPORT BECAUSE IT'S RUNNING FOR LONGER BURN-IN SESSIONS, without the benefit of "cool down."
In other words, does 8 hours of motor heat and constant motion create more wear than doing burn in, hypothetically, just 1 hour a day over a year's time?
Advance thanks,
