RE: Can A good CD player sound like vinyl?

In some cases better! No background distortion or groove noise...check. No feedback problems...check. No limitation on dynamic range...check. Source material is THEE limitation for both formats however. Romantacism reigns supreme over vinyl. A very good player with quality parts and excellent engineering can be had these days for $2k or less if you choose wisely. Cabling, power cords and AC problems are more critical however with digital vs vinyl(which is more forgiving due to it's limitations). You could always have both I guess? Playing Shostakovich' 5th symphony at concert level on my Denon A100 SACD player transports me to the venue and that is all I could ask for:O)
