Exactly, although this runs contrary to those that claim high-rez digital, and even vinyl, superior by default. All have obviously superior characteristics compared to redbook ... but yet ... they're all limited by the EXACT same bottleneck ... mastering quality.

John is indeed correct, in fact ... one can record a well mastered LP to LP-CDR (not as easy as it sounds), and it can sound SIGNIFICANTLY more musical than the regular CD re-issue.
