But it's more fun for people to dink with things, instead of addressing issues head on. I run into this all of the time. People come in to the shop to buy a crap load of junk to fix problems. Some of the problems have very easy answers, like...uh...repairing the stupid thing. So they do this dance. If the average customer like this would save their money and buy some quality stuff that is properly engineered, they would never have to buy anything again. It would outlive them. But where is the fun in that?
This is common for DIY Windsux people too. Instead of buying systems that are designed to work as a system, they want to DIY, fuss over the individual specs of each component, and then forever jack with it trying to keep it trouble free.
