Re: Muse Model Five Remote

The first thing to do is just call Muse. I'm sure they can help you out.

If the model Five is a DVD or universal player, then it probably based on a Panasonic mechanism. In that case just about any Panasonic DVD remote *should* work, but see my caveat below. (I believe that the latest Muse universal players are based on Pioneer mechanisms.)

But if it is a CD player, or if there are any extra functions on the remote (volume level, input select, etc.), then only a Muse remote will work. Muse has their own set of proprietary codes for the IR transmission. I don't think any "universal" remote control will work in this situation.

I suppose that it's even possible that they have a "translator" inside their DVD players so that the remote handset sends out "Muse" commands and translates them to "Panasonic" commands (or "Pioneer" for the later players). In that case there are only two solutions. Either get the original Muse remote, or else get a good "learning" remote that will memorize the codes that are transmitted by the original Muse remote.

Again, the folks at Muse will be able to provide the most help here. I would call them directly instead of hoping for good information from the internet (of all places!).
