word clock sync is good, certainly better than SPDIF. not perfect though, because the long path for the clock signal itself introduces jitter.

there was a discussion about this a while ago. you could rebuffer the signal at the DAC (knowing that the signal is synchronous to the DAC master clock) and this eliminates most (but not all) the jitter.

But if you are suggesting syncing the Lynx's analog outputs to an external clock (battery powered, atomic, whatever ...) that's not a good idea.

No matter how good the external clock may be, the Lynx will probably sync to it via a PLL, and therefore no better than using the Lynx's internal clock, and potentially far worse.
