Home Digital Drive

Upsamplers, DACs, jitter, shakes and analogue withdrawals, this is it.

Re: Behringer DEC2496 . . . help!!!

I suggest you read the manual a couple of times and experiment with the device, as the saying goes there are many way to skin a cat(!), I use analog inputs and output of the DEQ2296 and it works wonderfully, I also the autoEQ feature, but only for selected frequencies.

A few points to note,

A microphone is absolutely essential, preferably get the ECM8000 (as it has a flat frequency response, which absolutely essential for measuring.

The ECM8000 requires phantom power mode to activated, the microphone has to be place at least 1 metre off the ground, otherwise floor reflection will skew the results.

The easiest place to start is the Graphic Equalizer (GEQ), however the AutoEQ is not intuitive. You set a desired in GEQ, Start the RTA (Real Time Analizer) and select autoEQ.

The copies part of the GEQ curve, press start AutoEQ, which then does weird and wonderful things to the curves otherwise know as correction :-) and your curve dissappears.

Now you have to go to the Real-Time Analyzer (RTA) in mic/oupt input mode to see how close the resulting curve matches the one that you built with GEQ! Intuitive? err No.

That said, it is wonderful tool, that does exactly what it says on the tin. I counsel you to forget the various myths surrounding the digital and analog inputs, the analog inputs give you more flexibility, and jitter becomes a non-issue.
