Received my 640C V2, Excellent sounding player, very detailed and open. The soundstaging is very good. When I played my first CD I was actually dissapointed but after playing a few more I realized it just revealed a poorly recorded cd (too bright). My previous player was a Pioneer PD65 which was no slouch. I only replaced it because a processor was unavailable. I do think the Pioneer was a bit smoother sounding, more beautifull looking and built better but the 640C is more detailed, has better imaging and Looks descent. For the price I couldn't resist. The pioneer cost me about 700.00 11 or 12 years ago, the 640C cost 500.00 today. I shall rotate equipment in and out to see how it performs with various pieces.
