Once the market got used to the BIG dollars generated by a ZILLION young buyers and BIG companies geared up their expectations accordingly, the future for continued BIG sales of CD's was written. I would guess that the market for classical and jazz CD's has been pretty steady over the past decade or so. Small companies who specialize in those and comparable designer/builders of CDP's, all of whom are accustomed to a smaller market, will do fine. The challenge will be the transports, which are built by Philips and Sony. The latter especially could cause problems if it decides that demand from the smaller manufacturers of CDP's aren't worth the trouble. Some are likely already buying up a supply. Once BIG companies and BIG segments of the market get hold of something, there is generally trouble for minorities, in the long run anyway.
