Home Digital Drive

Upsamplers, DACs, jitter, shakes and analogue withdrawals, this is it.

Can this be done?

I am wanting to slowly move to separates (slowly because of money constraints) for my music system but I'm not sure if this is okay to do. I currently have a SimAudio Moon I-3 Integrated that I use for music. This integrated has a hometheater bypass so it acts as an amp only when I watch movies. For movies, I have a NAD T753. Movies still have importance to me and I cannot have two separate systems.

I would like to get a pre-amp first. I'm thinking Audio Research SP-16L? This has a hometheater bypass also. Can I connect my NAD to the Audio Research which then connects to the SimAudio? When watching movies, the NAD will go straight through the Audio Research into the SimAudio which will act as an amp. When listening to music, I just turn on the Audio Research and SimAudio. Does that work? Will it work? I'm thinking that in theory this will work but it may degrade sound. What do you guys think?
