Upsamplers, DACs, jitter, shakes and analogue withdrawals, this is it.

Re: Is there an end in sight for expensive CD players?

I just sold a TEAC VRDS10SE which was comparable to the VRDS25, and although the sound was big and bold there was no finese, refinement or involvement and it is pretty much accepted that although this particular generation of TEAC VRDS players utilized excellent transports, they were let down by the DACs and the Marantz CD7 I bought recently is in another league for instance.

A system with Audio Note amps and speakers should be very revealing of other components, but you'll also need decent cables otherwise the differences won't be as pronounced.
