Wanna modify the Playstation 1? Use the link below to read all or part of a very informative 130 page thread on diyaudio.com.Before you embark on major surgery, you can do some relatively simple things such as isolating and dampening vibration and using a inexpensive figure 8 to IEC adapter that will allow the use of a decent detachable power cord (pm me if you want to know where to buy one). While good RCA interconnects make a difference, some folks like to use the multiport out because it bypsses a couple of opamps and other parts. However, you will have to kludge up a homemade connector for the interconnects. On the other hand you can do some internal mods to improve the line out through the RCAs. Some folks have built external power supplies to replace the internal switching power supply, update the laser mechanism, etc.
You can make a mini hobby out of this unit if you really get into it.
