Who can fix Pioneer DV-37 transport...

Hi all:
My DV-37 goes into a bizaare state quite often these days, which started to occured not-so-often about 2 years ago. At some point, while playing a DVD or CD, it stops and cannot be played. Then, pressing eject causes the door to open, but then immediately close. Must turn off player before door closes if you want your plastic disc back! When a CD/DVD is in the player (good luck getting it in there) it whirls and makes little whiny grinding noises, says "stop" and sits there. Never finds the media on the disc. This usually all goes away after a few mins. Turning off/cutting all power no help, but not sure. Tonight, it's not going away.
Can anyone fix/replace these? I have no idea whether this is a transport mechanism issue or the death of the laser. Just want to get it fixed. The player is mod'd, so no Pioneer support.
