Need recommendation on a repair guy

Well, at least a check up / tune up guy. I have a Proceed PDT-3 that I am still very happy with, but it occasionally now sometimes does not initialize on a newly inserted disc the first time it goes in. I've read that this can sometimes be repaired by a little bit of a tune up. The old CDM1 Mk.II transport was not self aligning like the newer mechansims. I called Harman and they want almost $1000 up front for me to send it in to them. Granted, it's a Not To Exceed price, and I may get some of it back - but the darned thing isn't even worth $600 or so now!

I contacted a couple of mod type guys, and the ones I spoke with will not typically do maintenance type work on older units without doing one of their mods. so what I'm looking for is a very well regarded outfit that does care and feeding for these older great units. East Coast U.S. preferred.
