I find the overall sound to be best for my tastes with the cover off, with my previous CDP and current DAC. EMI/RFI stuff is all fine in theory, but the proof is in the listening.I also tried with many different soft, hard damping materials on the CDP/DAC; none resulted in a sound as open and less "resonancy" as with cover off. This obviously will differ among different players and systems, but it's free to try...
