The case helps control the RFI/EMI from the player. Taking the cover off would allow more noise to be radiated, and this might cause more harm to the rest of the system than it does good for vibration control.If you want to know if casework vibration is a problem for your machine, put something heavy and soft on the top and listen. A plastic bag of sand or kitty litter will do.
