CD player cover off?

I'm curious...with users trying to control vibration with their CD players and other equipment, does it make sense to take the cover off? I guess this is in part more related to tube gear. I was at my local dealer and all his demo stuff (tube CD players, tube pre-amps, tube amps) had the cover off. I'm thinking that this would help with vibration control? No cover means one less piece that will vibrate. If this is the way to go, how do you guys control dust build up?
