Yep! - I agree that that the C5-xe is not a significant improvement over the CX-7 in terms of Redbook performance. Yes, there are differences between the two machines but one is not really "better" than the other, I believe. They are certainly very highly rated machines and both sound "good" but as I and some others have pointed out before, CDs played on these machines are often not very exciting and leave to me wonder where the emotional involvement with the music has gone.
