I cannot speak for Linn, but I'd personally use my own interpolation filter, if I had the resources to actually tailor the function of the filter. As far as I know, only one product has provision to do this- The MSB Platinum III DAC. The problem is they cost several grand, and I don't know how good the analog circuitry is or how much RFI is generated.

One of the main problems with CD playback, in my opinion, is we've been held hostage by the limited and fixed choices amongst the D/A chips that have been available. I'd probably be heavy on custom PC-based D/A right now if I didn't come across Don Allen's giant-killing CD player.
