Upsamplers, DACs, jitter, shakes and analogue withdrawals, this is it.

That's the plan...but still unclear about using gain control for setting volume

It seems that there's mixed opinions on the A500, but I haven't read anything negitive from EP1500 owners (yet). But as you suggest, I'm going to hear for myself before parting with the Bryston amps.

I have an unbalanced passive pre amp that I can use between the EQ and the AMP, but I've also read that you can just use the gain controls on the front of the EP1500 amps to set the volume. Can anyone confirm this?

So the config would be

CDP (digital out) ----> SCR2496 (digital up conversion) ----> DEQ2496 (EQ) ----> EP1500 (Power amp/volume control)
