I am using the Konnekt 24D between my Macbook and the Attraction DAC.Earlier I tried a dozen of other USB, USB2, Firewire to SPDIF (coax/Toslink) converters, but my musician friends offered it to try and I immediately bought a Konnekt 24D after trying it in my system. The Konnekt converts the audio stream through the Firewire to SPDIF really well, I like it much better than anything else tried earlier. I can imagine why Steve is so happy using it with his CD player.
If you want to take your computer - based system to the highest possible level, use the Altmann Creation ADC as a clock generator from another battery. I connected it to the SPDIF in of the Konnekt 24D, switched it to external clock mode and .... wow. Listen to the 96k HDTT DVDs in this setup like Stravinsky: L'Histoire du Soldat or the Ducas, Erick Friedmann recordings, nothing short of transcendental experience.
The Altmann/Konnekt 24D digital setup drives an Altmann BYOB amp and an Avantgarde Trio through Acrolink 6100, 2500 and 5100 cables.
