Behringer "sandwich" ?

I was wondering...I have a DEQ2496, wish it had more digital inputs, more digital outputs. SRC2496 has more of both. I've seen posts here about using the SRC ahead of the DEQ. I couldn't make up my mind...before, after? Or even if "after" worked. Then it dawned on me.. at $129/each, why not both? Sandwich the DEQ between SRC's. But in true cheapskate audio fashion, I ask: has anybody done this? Does it work? Anybody who has not done it--sound like a good, bad, ugly idea? Thanks
