Home Digital Drive

Upsamplers, DACs, jitter, shakes and analogue withdrawals, this is it.

Re: Please help gents

The lack of responses may be caused by your budget. On paper, a cd player with built-in volume controls would offer an advantage of eliminating the preamp and extra i/c…if the volume control and driver stage in the cd player and preamp are equal. However, may be limited to a very select few, where the likelihood is most will be (at least the ones I tried in <2k were) compromised with less quality parts.

Going with a passive volume control and a cdp may open up your options. I have no direct experience with these, but suggest looking into the Promitheus TVC (www.promitheusaudio.com for ~$340) with a Toshiba SD-3990 DVD (best buys for ~$50) or Oppo ??? for ~$200.

Believe what your ears say - not hearsay.
