Upsamplers, DACs, jitter, shakes and analogue withdrawals, this is it.

Re: analogue sounding DAC

I've just purchased a Marantz CD7 which has been heavily modified by Graham Fowler of Trichord Research and this has a wonderfully 'natural' sound similar in many respects to the AN DAC4.1x I owned previously, with no loss of the bold, up-front 'bounce-along' (....I'm NOT going to mention Naim...) that upsampling seems to lose when gaining a little more smoothness.

Both Audio Note and Marantz utilise their circuitry to get the very best from older chips in the aforementioned sources as you'll know, and for me they have both managed to trump modern digital processing techniques which have found favour amongst the audio press of late.

Best Regards,
Chris redmond.
