Re: I've got a good CDP... should I audition a Rega?

I have been looking for a new CDP. I currently have a Marantz CD80 & have been looking to upgrade as I don't really like it that much.
Auditioned the Naim CD5i, Rega Saturn & Naim CD5X.
Didn't like the CD5i. The Rega was better but still didn't sound right to me. I took the CD5X home & put it into my system.
Yes the CD5X was good, more controlled than my own player, better bass & sounstage, but it missed out on the slam & air in the treble.
Rather than pay all that money for the sake of swapping players, I took it back.
I have just ordered a Sonneteer Byron As everone who has heard them
says they are really superb. After all, I own their amp & havn't heard a better one, including tube amps.
It would be worth auditioning the Rega, as a lot of people rate them highly. Don't swap just for the sake of it, unless it of course it is actually better for you.
