I just bought a Lavry DA10. I did not compare it to the BC Dac2 but did try a Slim Devices Transporter prior to settling on the Lavry. I find the Lavry excellent - extremely smooth with good dynamics and very good low level resolution. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it. This model has only been out a year (Lavry's been in biz for 13 or 14 years I think) so I haven't seen any on the used market.Dav Lavry is also a prolific writer and makes a compelling case that the up-sampling craze is relatively unproductive marketing hype. (You actually lose accuracy as you increase the need for processing speed.) He goes through rather lengthy mathematical based explanations to demonstrate this. You can check out his white papers and the forum (where Dan is very active) at www.lavryengineering.com.
For me, it just sounds good. It is pretty plain-jane looking (but then so is the BC Dac2) but actually looks a bit better in person than in the photos. I've still got a bit more listening to do, but I am rapidly coming to the conclusion that it is indeed better sounding than the $2,000 Transporter.
